| 2011-03-20 | Donnie F. Porter | I have finally broken down a 30 year brick wall using yDNA and the research capabilities of the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS). Of course I have over 30 years of personal research invested in this as well. I have finally proven descent from John Porter of Windsor, CT. He was baptized in Felsted, County Essex, England in 1594, the son of John Porter, Yeoman, and his wife Sybil (Vessey) Porter. I would love to find other Porters descended from John of Windsor. |

| 2010-07-26 | Ben Porter | I am a descendant of Patrick Porter (1737-1806), who owned the mill near Dungannon. Any of you doing research on the Porters know what a tangled web it is. I have DNA confirmation that I am, for sure, a descendant of Patrick (through his son John Walker Porter), because I have a match with one of my distant cousins who descended through another of Patrick's sons, Samuel. So, if any of you Porter men think you are in Patrick's line, here is a way to know for sure -- take a DNA test, and compare the results to mine. Send me an e-mail for details. Happy hunting! |

His sister was Mary Minnie Porter born 11/3/1869. Their parents died young and they went to live with their uncle Robert E. Porter of Division 103, York, SC (according to 1870 census). | 2007-04-18 | Christine Taylor | My paternal grandmother was a Porter from Southery in Norfolk, England. I;ve found her father, Wiliam 1834/6 - 1902, and his father, Noah, 1804/6 - 1885, but I'm really struggling to get any further back. I think Noah's father may also have been Christopher, and suppose he would have been born around 1771. Anyone got anything to offer me here, please? |
| 2007-01-30 | Bob Hocking | My maternal grandfather was Herbert Cecil PORTER b.04 Feb 1888 in Battersea, (now London) England. He was sent to Canada as a British Home Child in 1902. Because he was an orphan I had a great deal of trouble tracing his ancestry but managed to come up with a great story. Anyone interested may contact me. |
